If you're a pilot.... some caveats to keep you safe
- What would I tell the NTSB?
If I am thinking about an action, and things don't go as planned--maybe think twice.
- Flying is dangerous and unforgiving.
Always fly safe, set your limits, stick by them. Mother nature would be happy to reclaim you if you piss her off.
- My copilot is trying to kill me.
It doesn't matter who is in the right seat, check, double-check, check again. Never assume!
The above from some of the most experienced ATPs I have had the pleasure to fly with.
Some Observations about life
- There is always (always) the other side of the story. No matter how compeling the story you heard, there is always another take to it. Consider all the sides
- News reporting is a commodity. News is not necessarily "fake," it's just targeted marketing.
- Learn to separate opinion from fact. Sometimes, it's not that easy.
- Learn to differentiate correlation from causation. (Everybody that eats a carrot will die is a correlation, but not the cause of death). Too much of advertising and reporting is based more on correlation.
- Science is not done by consensus, it is done by facts.
I've always found it interesting that if a person likes the current POTUS then everything good is because of their office and everything bad is because of the previous POTUS. But, if people don't like the current POTUS then everything good is a carry-over from the previous POTUS and everything bad is because of the current POTUS.
